About me
Hi, I’m Julia, a 17-year-old skateboarder. I love the energy of skateboarding, the freedom, and being part of its unique community. For me, skateboarding isn’t just a sport, it’s a lifestyle, a creative process, and a whole special world where I feel at home.
I started skating during the COVID lockdowns, and over the past few years, it has become a huge part of my life. I’ve been competing at events all over Europe and I’m working hard every day to keep progressing and growing as a skateboarder.
I’ve always been into sports — from competitive bouldering to skiing, surfing, and classical ballet. With my father’s old boards at home, skateboarding was inevitable.
Skateboarding has tested me, both physically and mentally. Working through tough challenges taught me patience and resilience, and has shaped me into a stronger, more focused athlete.
I’m Dutch-Bulgarian, and growing up between these two countries and cultures has shaped who I am.
I’m proud to represent Bulgaria as I compete in World Skateboarding events. I’ve been selected by the international skateboarding federation, World Skate, for the prestigious WSK Scholarships LA28 Cycle, chosen from over 350 applicants from 90 countries. This is not only a personal milestone but also a major step for Bulgarian skateboarding, as I’ll be the first Bulgarian girl to compete at a high international level. I’m committed to supporting the growth of skateboarding in Bulgaria by helping develop better skateparks and creating more opportunities for young skaters.
I train and live mostly in Rotterdam, and spend every chance I get in Sofia – the two coolest cities in the world.
My dream is to become a professional skateboarder, fully enjoy this journey, and go for big goals, from the Olympics to SLS and X Games. I’m passionate about filmmaking and storytelling, and I want to combine skateboarding with creating skate videos, producing my own projects, study, travel, meet people, and share my experience along the way.
